Tata Motors is all set to launch its brand new micro SUV Tata Punch by this festive season. After the showcase of the H2X concept in the 2019 Geneva motor show, Tata motor revealed the HBX concept at the 2020 Auto expo. The base of Tata Punch is this HBX concept.
Tata Punch will be the second Tata model to unpin the ALFA ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture). With this step, Tata Punch will be the first micro SUV of Tata to sit on ALFA ARC.
Moving onto the specifications and features of Tata Punch, with the reveal of its images, it has got clear that Tata Punch will have a large central air intake, Tata badge mounted slim black grille with LED daytime running light. It will also feature split headlamps, round fog lamps, dual-tone roof, alloy wheels, and LED tail lamps.
A 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine will handle the power duties. This 1.2 L BS6 compliant engine shall deliver this micro SUV a max power of 86 PS and a peak torque of 114 Nm. The transmission options will be either a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. In its interior, the expected features are a seven-inch infotainment system that will accommodate apple carplay and Android auto-connect, semi-digital instrument cluster, and power steering.
With its launch, this micro SUV will boost the sales of the micro SUV segment of Tata, which otherwise was not that high with another model: Tata KUV 100.
In terms of competition, it will rival the micro SUVs of the segment like Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra KUV 100, and the upcoming Hyundai Casper.
A few more segment-best features shall be available with Tata Punch. These features include a pure black color scheme cabin, floating display infotainment touch screen, cruise control, climate control, height-adjustable driver seat, and many more.
Tata Punch will have the earlier launch benefit compared to Hyundai Casper and can set the standards in the segment.
The price tag is yet not revealed, but we can expect it to hover around 5 to 8 lakh.
We can expect the launch of Tata Punch somewhere in mid-October with the onset of the festive season.
